Hello love
At the helm of Mother Magazine stands Melissa Schäfer, a woman whose journey from creative portrait photographer to passionate documenter of the Arctic's changing landscapes is as captivating as the images she captures. Melissa's fascination with the polar bears of Svalbard leads her to co-author the acclaimed book "Polar Tales" with her partner, Fredrik Granath. Melissa's vision goes beyond the pages of a book; she yearns to create a platform where female artists and storytellers can shine while nurturing a deeper reverence for Mother Nature.
Our Purpose and Story
In today's fast-paced world, it's easy to lose touch with our planet's beauty and our own creative potential. However, one non-profit magazine is trying to change that narrative by celebrating the power of storytelling, photography, and the natural world. Mother, created exclusively by women, serves as a platform to support female artists and storytellers while fostering a deeper connection to Mother Nature. The magazine contains 15 stories from around the world, 15 women who share their love for nature, art, and storytelling in ways that every time you flip a page to the following article, you enter a new world.
At the heart of Mother lies a profound message: to reconnect with our roots and nature through the art of storytelling and photography. Unlike traditional magazines, Mother is uniquely shaped like a book, inviting readers to immerse themselves in its pages and embark on a journey of discovery and inspiration.

"Our goal is to inspire people to fall in love with our planet and creativity again," says Melissa Schäfer, founder of Mother. "We want to remind them of the beauty surrounding us and encourage them not to freeze in fear but to embrace the power of nature and imagination. We only care for what we love, and it's time to fall in love with our planet again. ”
Despite its non-profit status, Mother has significantly impacted the world since its inception. With two editions published annually, the magazine has garnered widespread acclaim and reached readers in over 52 countries worldwide. Featuring contributions from emerging talents and renowned female photographers and filmmakers, each issue of Mother is a testament to its contributors' collective passion and creativity.

We have to change our view of this planet, and the easiest and most fun way is to do it together. Collaboration instead of competition.

The magazine is a very exclusive and beautiful print product, offset printed by the best printing house in Scandinavia. It will feel and look more like a book than a magazine. The printing was made possible with the help of our partner Sony Europe.
Volumes 1 and 2 were completely free, with only postage costs covered by the recipients. Volume 3, however, transitioned to a paid model to ensure the future sustainability of Mother Magazine and to support organizations like the Childhood Foundation. Mother is and stays a non profit project!
