WITH PAUL NICKLEN, CRISTINA MITTERMEIER AND SEALEGACY

In May 2017 we did a private expedition with Paul Nicklen and Cristina Mittermeier for SeaLegacy and National Geographic. The first half of the expedition we used the ship MS Origo, and the second half we had MS Freya. It was a spring with a lot of ice around, not because of colder conditions and newly frozen fjords, but because the North Pole pack-ice had drifted south and embraced the islands of Svalbard earlier during the winter. We had an amazing time with a lot of great work done, and many amazing close encounters with polar bears. Some of Paul's material ended up in his beautiful book "Born to ICE",  some we used for our own "Polar Tales", and some of Paul and Cristina's photos and film were published by National Geographic.
